About Me

Welcome to my online portfolio! My name is Kevin Lehning and I have been creating digital and traditional design work the majority of my life. I have over 15 years of business related design work experience. On this website you will find my personal design portfolio which displays my creativity and broad interest in computer generated design as well as traditional media.

I continually grow and always like to learn new concepts and challenge myself that will allow me to utilize and expand my current knowledge and creative skills. I hold a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Graphic Design Major) from The Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg with a Dean’s Recommendation of Honors.

Artwork has been the passion of my life, regardless of the media. I have loved creating the visions in my mind since the young age of 7 when I built my first models and learned woodworking at my Dad's side in his workshop. I knew creating artwork in all forms was what I wanted to do more than 30 years ago and I have never turned back!

My life is design, I love it and I surround myself in it every day. I love creating anything and everything and through decades of practice and dedication, I have created such things like working radio controlled boats up to 8 feet in length, drawings and paintings, sculptures and realistic scale miniature models, movie-replica props and wearable costumes, customization of automobiles including airbrushed details, custom created vinyl graphics and leather working, to computer generated designs for advertising, business logos, layout planning and much more.

Some of my work has been inspired by my interest in science fiction movies like Star Wars and I am constantly improving on my own work, sometimes re-designing previous creations to include lighting, sound effects, movable parts, or unique special effects. I also have a strong interest in vehicles and participate regularly in competitions with my show truck, a 2008 Chevy Silverado with dozens of modifications and upgrades, most of which were hand crafted by me. I am creative in many fields and really think outside, over the top of, and miles past "the box" to come up with bigger and better creations every day. Whether be lighting, sound, clay, paint, pencils, brushes, or computer, I love to create artwork that is sure to blow your expectations into the next orbit.

I take pride in what I create and strive to pay attention to every detail to make my designs, both digital and tangible, as realistic, correct, and impressive as I possibly can. I love what I do and love exploring all areas of my own creativity and am always looking for ways to learn, improve and venture into new areas of design and creativity, while also staying sharp and focused on my work to be sure I create artwork that is flawless, realistic, and up to the needs of the most critical uses.

When I'm not in front of the computer designing logos, graphics, or animations, you can usually find me building or creating something by hand.

When I’m not looking at a computer screen you will find me working on my truck (money pit) dressing up as a wookie or both!
